Aaron Gilson Zirkle Jr.

He was born Monday, July 17, 1939, at Cassity, West Virginia, a son of the late Aaron Gilson Zirkle Sr. and Nellie A. Shipman Zirkle.

On Sept. 19, 1959, at Elkins, West Virginia, he was married to the former Mary Susan Swick, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Kevin L. Zirkle of Buckhannon Pike; one sister, Margaret Dolly and husband, Jack, of Ripley; two granddaughters, Stacy Travis and husband, Christopher, of Southport, North Carolina, and Sasha Zirkle of Elkins; two great-granddaughters, Kenley Grace and Stella Angeline Travis, both of Southport, North Carolina; and a special cousin, Cal Zirkle and wife Phyllis of South Carolina.

Preceding him in death are one son, Jeffrey L. Zirkle;and an infant brother.

He attended Coalton High School, and was the owner and operator of Zirkle Lumber Company at Coalton for several years. His hobbies were mowing grass and working in the garden. He enjoyed being with his family very much and especially loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from noon to 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023.

Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Brian Seders will officiate and interment will follow at the Phillips Cemetery at Jimtown, West Virginia.
