Bobbie Muriel Fowler, 102, peacefully graduated from this Earth to Heaven with loved ones by her side on Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Born July 20, 1921, in Elkins, West Virginia, she grew up in Randolph County along with her two sisters and three brothers and was the second oldest of her siblings.
She married Jacob Daniel Fowler of Beverly, West Virginia, and they raised two children, Daniel Boye Fowler and Jane Seymore Akers.
A graduate of Elkins High School, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in education from Morris Harvey College in Charleston and a Master’s Degree in education from Marshall University in Huntington. Bobbie was a skilled teacher and Educator and especially loved working with younger children. A lifelong West Virginian, she spent time living in Elkins, Marmet, Huntington, Morgantown and Parkersburg, West Virginia.
She was the mother of two children; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Bobbie’s passions were helping to raise her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, sitting on her porch on warm days, reading, bird watching, planting flowers and cheering on the Mountaineers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Filmore Callison; her husband, Jacob D. Fowler; her siblings, Virginia, Shirl, Asa and Lacey Callison; her daughter, Jane; her son, Daniel; and grandson, William Gregory Akers.
She is survived by her sister, Wanda Alexander of Texarkana, Texas; daughter-in-law, Sylvie Fowler of Cocoa Beach, Florida; grandsons, Daniel B. Fowler II (Ann) of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Jay H. Fowler (Kerri) of Melbourne, Florida; granddaughters, Kristina Adams of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Katherine Paul (Mark) of Avalon, Pennsylvania, Emilie Fowler (John) of Los Angeles, California, and Maggie Fowler (Alex) of Montreal; and her 10 great-grandchildren, Katie, Jane and Jack Adams; Daniel, Emily, Jacob and JJ Fowler, and Gretchen, Pepper and Vesuvius Paul.
Visitation will be at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home in Elkins, West Virginia, from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. on the same day.
The Rev. Brian Seders will officiate and interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins, West Virginia.
