John Michael Teter, 42, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
John was born Monday, March 9, 1981, in Elkins, a son of the late Michael Carl Teter and Betty Bender Coburn, who survives.
Also left to cherish his memory, are three siblings, Billy Isenhart, Stephanie Teter and Jennifer "Sissy" Delauder; aunts and uncles, Maggie Shaffer, Wilma Harris and husband, Billy, and Bo Shaffer and wife, Crystal, and Donald "Bud" Bender and wife, Lucille; niece and nephew, Sean Michael Moser and Angel Dawn Mallow; great-nieces and nephews, Landon Cash Moser, Frankie Marie Floyd, Tylan, Bailey and Able Pritt; cousin and best friend, Jamie Bender; special extended family, Sherri, Betty, Dusty, Kirk and Mike Moser; and girlfriend, Starr Basum.
Preceding him in death besides his father was his maternal grandparents, Melissa and Sherman Bender; and one goddaughter, Alexis McDonald.
John obtained his GED in Randolph County and had been employed at Mountain State Heating and Cooling. John enjoyed all sports, but his favorite was watching WVU football. He also enjoyed watching The Sopranos and John was known for being a sharp dresser. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. John would give you the shirt off his back if he thought it would help.
A visitation will be held in the mausoleum at Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. Interment will follow.
