Richard Vandernoot, 81, of Petersburg, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, at his home.
Richard was born on Oct. 31, 1941, in New York, New York, and was the son of the late Harry Vandernoot and Bertha (Dessaint) Vandernoot.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Elaine (Sheaffer) Vandernoot in 2006.
Richard is survived by one son, Eric Vandernoot of Manassas, Virginia; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Soule of Vermont and Carol Sheaffer of Florida.
Also several cousins, nieces and nephews survive.
Richard was a graduate of Paul Smiths College in New York with a degree in Forestry. He was employed by the United States Forest Service and retired after 45 years of service. He was a certified Oil and Gas Resource Specialist and a WV certified Real Estate Appraiser.
Richard was an Episcopalian by faith and attended Grove Street UM Church.
Inurnment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
