Virginia ‘Susie’ M. Valentine Beverage

Susie was born Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1957, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Woodrow Valentine Sr. and Mary Virginia Weese Valentine.

On Sept. 18, 1976, she married George “Tom” Beverage, who survives. They had celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Also left to cherish Susie’s memory is one daughter, Carlee C. Sines and husband, Paul; her granddaughter, River Jade Sines; her “adopted” children, Braden Hammond and fiance, Sydney Mullenax and Allyson Stephenson and husband, Sam; two siblings, Nancy Valentine and Jack Valentine and wife, Carol; many friends including Sharon Coberly, Barbara Fisher, Peggy Bennett, Jane Cutright and the Pingley family; and her fur baby, Mayzee.

Susie was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1976. She was a self-employed housekeeper. A hard worker who was a friend to everyone, she would often say, “God put me here to help people.” Her giving nature moved her to provide food and household supplies to those in need even if they were strangers to her.

While she loved with everything in her, she never hesitated to speak her mind. She also enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband, Tom and many of their friends.

She was a Methodist by faith and had been attending the Elkins Family Worship Center.

Susie’s request for cremation was honored. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at Elkins Family Worship Center from noon until 2 p.m. at which time a service will be conducted by Pastor John Taylor and Rev. Mike Lambert.
