Betty Lou Lowther Humphrey
Betty Lou Lowther Humphrey, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed on to paradise Oct. 19, 2023, at home surrounded by loving family and her special pup, Buddy.
Born at Skelt, West Virginia, to Sarah and Melville Lowther. Betty graduated from Parsons High School in 1959 and attended Fairmont State University and West Virginia University during her career. She was previously married to Otwell “June” Humphrey.
Betty worked for Doorman Woolen Mill, Tucker County Headstart program, the Tucker County Hospital in the kitchen, and thanks to her amazing cooking and the love for the kitchen she owned several restaurants in Parsons and worked in many others.
She worked at Cortland Acres Nursing Home in activities and as manager of the Pineview Apartments and was past director of the Tucker County Senior Center. Betty worked for Sentry Sign Installers in Sanford, Florida, before working very hard at retirement and moving back to Parsons. She enjoyed crochet, visiting the beach and reading.
Betty was proceeded in death by her parents, Melville and Sarah; brothers, Jesse, Donald, Dana and;ter and sisters Areta Jean, Josephine, Carol, Billie, and Myrtle Nell; and was survived by her remaining brother. Charles; children. Tammy of Sanford, Florida, Larry of Parsons; bonus children, Beverly Bennett, Cathy Jones and Eric McCrum; her three grandchildren, Kayla, Nick and Sarah.
She also had two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Sophia along with special stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty’s wishes of cremation have been honored and a memorial service has been planned for family in November.
