Howard Neal Skidmore

Howard Neal Skidmore, 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023.
He was born on Monday, July 16, 1951, in Elkins, West Virginia, the oldest son of the late Charles H. and Ethel M. (Karlen) Skidmore.
He is survived by daughters, Ashley and Macy; former wife Loretta Poling Skidmore; and family dog, Piper.
Also surviving are sisters Kathy (Tom Oldham), Susan (Ison Graham) and Jeanne Dumire; and brother, Joe (wife Ellen). He is survived by sister-in-law, Linda Howell Skidmore; as well as nieces and nephews, Alison Dumire Welton, Jeremy Dumire, Adam Dumire, Amy Graham Gannon, and Adam Skidmore; and life-long friends John Clark and Maxine Cooper.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother David “Chongo” Skidmore and family dogs, Rossi and Scout.
Neal was a graduate of Elkins High School and Marshall University. He began his banking career at American Finance, later worked at the Belington Bank and founded The Heritage Financial Group.
He had many interests and enjoyed collecting and restoring cars. He was an excellent carpenter who built his own home and loved music, especially his brother, Chongo’s Rockin’ Oldies Show.
Neal was a gentleman who loved his family and enjoyed helping his many clients over the years.
