Louise Teresa Girard, 94, a resident of Coalton, West Virginia, departed this life early Wednesday, morning, Oct. 18, 2023, at Broaddus Hospital at Philippi, West Virginia.
She was born Saturday, Nov. 10, 1928, at Coalton, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Sam O. Girard and Minnie Endrizzi Girard.
Surviving are one brother, Francis "Frank" Girard and wife, Shirley, of Buckhannon; one sister, Mary Margaret "Pete" Gallagher of Coalton; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Charles Joseph Girard and Joseph Anthony "Joe" Girard; and two sisters, Esther Marie Silvester and Adeline Elizabeth Pastine.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1946 and a graduate of the Business College in Clarksburg. She worked for the Federal Government when she first moved to D.C., and then worked for Allied Advertising, retiring in 2009 from Johnson Advertising in D.C. Louise worked in the D.C. area for 50-plus years.
She was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church at Coalton.
She enjoyed cooking and loved to be around people and her family. She was constantly on the telephone talking to friends she had met from all over the United States. Louise was always thinking of everyone else first.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
On Sunday at 5:45 p.m. from the funeral home, a Vigil Rite will be recited.
On Monday morning, Oct. 23, 2023, Ms. Girard will be moved to the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church at Coalton, where the Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
The Rev. Father John Tran, SVD, will be the Presider and interment will follow at the Saint Vincent Cemetery at Kingsville, West Virginia.
