Mr. Marvin Ray Myers, 80, a resident of Belington, West Virginia, departed this life early Thursday morning, Oct. 12, 2023, in the WV Caring Hospice Facility in Elkins, West Virginia. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born on April 10, 1943, at Philippi, West Virginia, a son of the late Arley Abram and Lugretta Wimer Myers.
On Nov. 2, 1963 at Oakland, Maryland, he was united in marriage to the former Cellene Donnell Zirkle, who survives in Belington. They would've been married for 60 wonderful years this November.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Todd Cole Myers of Belington; one daughter, Nickolena "Nikki" Lynette Floyd and fiance, Joseph Menendez, of Belington; eight grandchildren, Amanda Haddix, Trinity Gray and husband, Zachary McCoy, Tristen Stewart, Jade Myers, Graylin Floyd, Ian Floyd, Ethan Floyd and Eli Floyd; and two great-grandchildren, Khyree Myers and Easton Ray McCoy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Shawn Ray Myers; and two brothers, Carl Myers and Lorrine Paul Myers.
Marvin was a graduate from the Belington High School with the class of 1961. In his younger years he was formerly employed at various places, including Bill Ware's Cabinet Shop, Fairmont Times as a bundle delivery man and at Allegheny Lumber. He then became owner and operator of Myers Construction. He was a former member of Belington Fire Department, was a former city councilman for the city of Belington, was a former little league coach for Belington and he was a very staunch supporter of the Philip Barbour High School Athletics.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Per Marvin's request, cremation will be honored.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, where final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Howard Biller officiating.
Interment of his cremains will then follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Philip Barbour High School c/o P B Athletics Department 99 Horseshoe Drive Philippi, WV 26416.
