GILMORE
Maxine Gilmore a resident of the Highland Park Community, Elkins, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at her home following a brief illness and under the care of West Virginia Caring Hospice. Death was attributed to a stroke.
She was born Sunday, Aug. 23, 1931, in Elkins, the only child of the late Marvin G. and Lillian P. Isner Gordon.
On Aug. 18, 1950 she was married to Harold M. Gilmore, who preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1995.
Surviving are three sons, Michael G. Gilmore and wife, Caroline, of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, Robert J. Gilmore and wife, Alisa and Timothy A. Gilmore; one daughter, Dyanne D. "Dee-Dee" Gilmore and husband, Dale, all of Elkins. Glenda Setler and husband Bob of Grafton, West Virginia.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Ronald M. Gilmore of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kelly Atchison of Canton, Georgia, Stephanie Tompkins and husband, Leslie, of Elkins, Dr. Robert W. Gilmore and wife, Trinity, of Navarre, Florida, and Jenna Stalnaker and husband, Matthew, of Elkins. Also surviving are nine great grandchildren, Ronald M. Gilmore, II, Lillian and Hope Johnson, Iris Tompkins, Aiden, London and Jayna Atchison, Alayna Gilmore and Jessamyn Stalnaker.
Mrs. Gilmore was employed for 20 years by E.S. Heineman Insurance Agency. Later she worked at Huttonsville Correctional Center from which she retired in 1991.
She was an active member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church and a member of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion Auxiliary.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Charles Madaus officiating.
Interment will follow in the American Legion's Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elkins Randolph County Public Library, 32 Randolph Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Maxine.
