Patrick Lester "Pat" Coffman, 55, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life peacefully on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, surrounded by his family.
God is good, just three days before his passing the family was told he was brain dead, but God had another plan. Pat was able to verbally say his goodbyes and tell each of his family members that he loved them. For just a few days, he was the "Pat" that we know and love.
Pat had his demons, but those who had the privilege of knowing him would tell you what a good friend, son and brother he was. Pat was book smart and could talk with you about any subject. History and current events were some of his favorite subjects to discuss. He was a master plumber by trade, but his illness took him down a different path.
Over the last few years, his health was failing, but still had a positive attitude and would do what he could to help anyone.
If Pat was here, he would say don't be sad for me, no more pain, no more suffering. I'm smiling up here in the glory of God.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Haman and Hazel Coffman; his maternal grandmother, Rosalie Hollen; and maternal great grandfather, Delbert Price, all from the Montrose community.
Left here on earth to keep his memory alive, his father and mother, Lester and Wanda Coffman of Montrose; his brother, John Coffman and wife, Stacy, of Elkins; three sisters, LaWanda Schoonover and husband, Brian, of Montrose, Leslie Gibson and husband, Tim, and Cynthia Helmick and husband, David Jr., all of Elkins; and he was blessed to have a large family with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family's request for cremation will be honored. A celebration of life gathering will be held at Randolph Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be held.
The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Patrick Lester "Pat" Coffman.
