Robert G. "Bobby" Ware, 52, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, following a short battle with cancer (Glioblastoma).
He was born Jan. 30, 1971, in Elkins, a son of Gary Ware of Elkins and the late Canda Lea (Shiflett) Ware.
On July 14, 2007, he was married to Amy Beth Baer, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Alyssa and Elizabeth Ware, both at home; aunt and uncle, Vickie and Troy Ware of Beverly; mother-in-law, Anna Baer of Elkins; special sisters-in-law, Debbie (Chris) See and Vicki and Frank Pennington; and brother-in-law, Rev. Robert L. Baer Jr.
He is also survived by several other aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members as well as several cats and his pet rabbit.
Also preceding him in death were his beloved grandparents, Robert and Helen Shiflett, who helped to raise him; and his father-in-law, Rev. Robert L. Baer Sr., as well as many other extended family members.
Bobby graduated from Elkins High School with the Class of 1989. Bobby was most recently employed with the Upshur County Sheriff's Department as a court security officer and was very passionate about law enforcement. He had many friends from the West Virginia State Police, whom he considered his brothers and sisters. Bobby worked part time for the WVSP as a civilian employee until April 2023. He was also known for delivering medication for the Health Center Pharmacy in and around Randolph and Tucker counties.
The loves of Bobby's life were his beautiful daughters whom he was extremely proud of. He was a wonderful loving father and husband to Amy and was very involved in the lives of his children rarely missing a school field trip or party.
He was very loved by his daughter's friends and was affectionately known as "Moon Man" for his tendency to sleepwalk.
Bobby's family would like to thank Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center and Dr. High for the excellent care he received during his stay, as well as West Virginia Caring. They would like to thank the WVDHHR, Amy's employer, for all of their love and support, as well as the Upshur County Sheriff's office and the West Virginia State Police Troop 3. The family would also like to thank the community, for their love and support since Bobby's diagnosis, and Chasity Ray, loving neighbor and friend.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
Rev. Robert L. Baer Jr. will officiate and interment will follow.
The family asks that donations be made to West Virginia Caring Hospice, PO Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520 in memory of Bobby. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Robert G. "Bobby" Ware.
