Beverly Lefkowitz Kessler

KESSLER

With enormous gratitude and love, we announce the passing of our kind, brave and caring mother, Beverly Lefkowitz Kessler.

Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, in 1943, Beverly passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, surrounded by her family and many close friends.

Beverly spent her childhood growing up in Elkins as the oldest of three sisters. Graduating from Elkins High School. She moved to the Washington, D.C., area to work for the Naval Office of Personnel and met the love of her life, a very dynamic man named Robert.

Upon being blessed with twin boys, in 1972 they moved to Clarksburg, West Virginia, to open a downtown business named The Material Shop. Upon the passing of Beverly's father, Willard Lefkowitz, the Kessler family relocated to Beverly's home in Elkins to assume the family steel business, Elkins Iron & Metal, along with her sister, Janice, and brother-in-law, Jim Gongola.

Once her boys were old enough to take care of themselves, she worked as an administrator for Memorial General Hospital, Randolph County Housing Authority and Appalachian Community Health. Her home was the central spot for many of the boy's friends. She often referred to her house as the equivalent of living in a fraternity house, with her husband being the biggest kid of all.

Beverly was preceded in death by husband, Robert Kessler; father, Willard Lefkowitz; mother Marion Lefkowitz; and beloved sister, Debbie Lefkowitz Wolfe.

She is survived by twin sons Mark and David; and sister, Janice Lefkowitz Gongola; and two grandchildren, Kylee and Kole Kessler.

Beverly was a beautiful and giving person with a stunning smile and eyes that would light up the room. She volunteered at Davis Memorial Hospital and was on the Board of Directors for their Auxiliary. She cared very deeply for the people in her life and made an important impact on those that knew her.

Private services were held.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Beverly Lefkowitz Kessler.
