Christopher Michael Mussi, 39, of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023. He was in his usual health and death was unexpected.
He was born in Elkins, West Virginia, on July 21, 1984, a son of Mike Mussi and Lisa A. Mussi (Sleeman).
Chris is survived by his mother, Lisa Mussi; father, Mike Mussi and wife, Lori; brother, Michael Mussi and wife, Charity; stepbrother, Justin White; grandfather, Richard Mussi Sr.; grandmother Jackie Sleeman, as well as several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the family he found both as a student and as a correctional officer.
Chris was a graduate of Elkins High School, in the Class of 2002. He was also a graduate of Fairmont State University, in 2006, with a degree in Criminal Justice.
After graduating, Chris pursued several jobs within the WV Department of Corrections, including working at the WV Regional Jail and the Salem Correctional Center.
Chris spent his free time outdoors. He loved to fish and camp with his dog, Dexter. He was an active volunteer in clean-up efforts for the rivers and woods. His love for fishing also led to hobbies such as crafting his own fishing lures. Chris also had a passion for music. He enjoyed going to all the local spots to listen to his friend's bands and was always looking for the next concert to travel to.
As per his wishes, Chris will be cremated.
