Mrs. Phyllis May Armentrout Phillips, 79, a resident of Belington, departed this life peacefully on Wednesday morning, Nov. 15, 2023, at her home. She had been in usual health but death was unexpected.
She was born on Feb. 4, 1944, in Virginia, a daughter of the late Melvin Paul and Beulah Hamblin Armentrout.
On May 17, 1963, at Parsons, West Virginia, she was united in marriage to Bernard Neal Phillips, who preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 2002.
She is survived by two sons, Victor Neal Phillips and Allen Ray Phillips and wife, Lisa, both of Belington; and one sister, Bonnie Cox of Elkins.
Phyllis was a graduate from the Belington High School with the class of 1962. She was previously employed at the Leaders Department Store in Belington and also with the Belington Clinic as an office manager for many years, from which she retired.
She was a member of the Westside United Methodist Church and a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Belington. She enjoyed watching her favorite tv shows and loved to water her flowers.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Bryan Headley officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington.
