Virginia Ann "Ginny" Phillips Skidmore, 76 years, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life early Monday morning, Nov. 20, 2023, at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center at Elkins, West Virginia, with her loving family at her side.
She was born Thursday, March 27, 1947, at Elkins, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Perry Hall and Dessie Gladys Bright Phillips.
On Sept. 26, 1970, at Baltimore, Maryland, she was married to Ronal Lynn Skidmore, who preceded her in death May 18, 2020. They had celebrated 49 years of marriage.
Surviving are one son, Aron Dale Skidmore and wife, Jonnie Ann, of Harman; one daughter, Diana Ruth Smith and husband, Bradley, of Huttonsville; two sisters, Loretta Jean Hinkle of Beverly and Nancy Ellen Mullins of Elkins; three grandchildren, Devin VonBehren and husband, David, of Suffolk, Virginia, Danielle Hopper and husband, Derek, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Brody John Skidmore of Harman; seven great grandchildren, Taylor VonBehren, Donald VonBehren, Colton VonBehren, Nolan VonBehren, Bailey Hopper, Sophia Hopper and Cruz Hopper; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are five brothers, Steven Hall Phillips, Robert John Phillips, James Clayton Phillips, Alan Dale Phillips and Donald Perry Phillips; and one sister, Mary Jo Hinkle.
Ginny was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1965. She worked for Bendix in Baltimore, Maryland, before her marriage and then returned to Elkins where she worked for Wilfong's Market and later as a billing clerk at Davis Memorial Hospital until her retirement with over 30 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping and buying for others. She had a big heart that was full of love and was always thinking of others.
She loved her family and especially her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at 1p.m. The Reverend Kevin Gainer and The Reverend Connie Gainer will officiate and entombment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Gilman, West Virginia.
