Virginia Mae Hovatter Nestor

NESTOR

Virginia Mae Hovatter Nestor, 94, a resident of Parsons, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at West Virginia Caring Hospice Center at Elkins, West Virginia, with her family by her side.

She was born on Thursday, May 16, 1929, at Licking Creek, Bull Run, St. George, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Oscar Miller and Nora E. Nestor. On Jan. 10, 1946, at Oakland, Maryland, she was married to Roscoe Willard Nestor, who preceded her in death March 10, 2020. They had celebrated 74 years of marriage.

Surviving are three daughters, Stephanie Moats and companion, Jerry Nestor, of Hambleton, Marilyn "Susie" Holler and husband, Craig, of Point Pleasant and Becky Lynn Dean and husband, Jesse, of Buckhannon; 11 grandchildren, Vincent Moats and companion, Madison Lantz, Dana Beth Millet and Damian, Jason Nestor and Rose, Curtis Dean and Marcy, Justin Dean and Noel, Doug Dean and Amy, Jennifer and Scott Ervin, Mary Beth and Michael Pidcock, Amber Lee and Eric Lee, Jenna Thompson and Brian; 17 great-grandchildren, Brian Olaya, Brooke, Jack Millet, Remi, Spencer, Finley, Emmy Dean, Maggie, Isla, Teddy Thompson, Myles, Madi, Maxton Pidcock, Molly, Owen, Sophia Lee, and Cameron Ervin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one son, Willard Junior Nestor; and three brothers, Wes Nestor, Albert Nestor and Claude Nestor.

She attended the schools of Tucker County. She was a homemaker, who loved helping her late husband on the farm in the garden, and also in their logging business and building homes. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Parsons. She enjoyed flowers and canning and loved spending time with her family, especially grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, WV on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday at noon.

The Rev. Julie M. Davis will officiate and interment will follow at the Nestor Cemetery at Bull Run, St. George, West Virginia.
