Cathrine Rebecca Shobe White Sturdivant, 83, a resident of Harrisonburg, Virginia, where she lived for the last 18 years with her daughter, Cathy Alexander, departed this life Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at her home with her loving family at her side.
She was born Monday, March 11, 1940, at Parsons, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Charles Alexander and Nellie Ruth Weaver Shobe.
She was twice married.
First, to Neal William White, who preceded her in death during 1980.
Second, to Robert Granville Sturdivant, who preceded her in death during 1997.
Surviving are one son, William Dean White and wife, Lisa, of Mabscott, West Virginia; one daughter, Cathy White Alexander and husband, Sylvester, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; one brother, Arley Dale Shobe of Elkins; three sisters, Barbara Loraine McClung, Margaret Kay Taylor and husband, Wade, all of Elkins, and Carolyn Sue Green of Parsons; four grandchildren, Kurtis Edward White of San Antonio, Texas, Neal William White and wife, Ashley, of Mabscott, West Virginia, Jenna Alexander and companion, Michael Cook of Waynesboro, Virginia, and Dustin Alexander of Raphine, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Madalynn White, Raylynn White and Skye Morales; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are one daughter, Janet Sue White; two brothers, Charles Allan and James Monroe Shobe; one sister, Laura "Janie" Shobe; one nephew, Brian Michael Shobe; and one niece, Faye Lea Likens.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1959. She had worked as a Nurses Aide in Elkins and Virginia. She enjoyed reading romance and mystery novels and listening to classic country music.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins, West Virginia, on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday at noon.
The Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate, and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia.
