Larry Robert Poling, 68, a resident of Moatsville, was called home unexpectedly to his heavenly Father on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023.
Larry was born Aug. 5, 1955, in Parsons, West Virginia, a son of the late Robert H. Poling and Ellen Susan (Nestor) Poling, who survives. Larry was united in marriage on May 17, 1980 ,to Janet M. (Phillips) Poling. who survives at home.
Larry was an avid farmer, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and family gatherings. He also enjoyed the springtime where he would tap the maple trees to prepare for his famous maple syrup. Larry was the owner and operator of Saw4U, woodworking was a passion for Larry. He was a former heavy equipment operator for Stanley Industries, and a school bus driver for Barbour County Schools.
Larry was called to the ministry, where he ministered the Mt. Zion Covenant of the Brethren Church for the past 32 years.
Surviving is his loving wife, Janet Poling; children, Benjamin Poling and wife, Tricia, of Philippi, Jessica Tuner of Lenexa, Kansas; grandchildren, Jason, and Morgan Poling, Alexander "Alex" and Kennedy Turner; K-9 companion, Baxter; sisters, Linda Sue Mallow and husband, Jerry, of Upper Tract, West Virginia, Debra Cheryl Daugherty and husband, Lance, of Moatsville, Connie Jewel Rinker and husband, Steve, of Grafton; also several nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Robert H. Poling and brother, Roger Alan Poling.
Family and friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday Dec. 21, from 3-8 p.m. and on Friday, Dec. 22, from 9-11 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. with Pastor Barry Shahan officiating.
