Linda Maxine (Wilson) Oxier, 55, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, and a former resident of Belington, West Virginia, passed away from this life on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, in the Davis Medical Center at Elkins. She had been in declining health, however, her death was sudden and unexpected.
Linda was a beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
She was born on Jan. 9, 1968, in Champaign, Illinois, a daughter to the late Richard Wilson and Kathleen "Kathy" (Hurst) Wilson.
Linda's departure from this world leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but her memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
On Dec. 26, 2000, she was united in marriage to Matthew B. Oxier, who survives at their home. They would have celebrated 23 years of marriage.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Matthew B. Oxier, who stood by her through thick and thin, sharing a deep bond that surpassed the boundaries of this earthly realm. She was a pillar of strength to her daughters, Jessica Moss, and husband, Bryant, of Belington, and Shelby Bowman, of Moatsville, guiding them with love, wisdom, and unwavering support.
In addition to her immediate family, Linda leaves behind her brothers, Scott R. Wilson and wife, Amanda, of Farmington, West Virginia, and Brian Wilson of Fairmont, who shared many cherished moments and laughter with her.
She also leaves behind a legacy in the form of her beautiful grandchildren, Alyssa Moss, Blake Moss and Braelyn Moss, all of Belington, and Zackeriah Swiger and Jayla Swiger of Moatsville, who brought immense joy and pride to her life; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding her death beside her parents was a grandson, Conner William Moss; brother, Richard L. Wilson; aunt, Linda Jean Holbrook; and her first husband, Donnie Bowman.
She attended the schools of Barbour County and graduated from Philip Barbour High School with the class of 1986. Linda loved watching Pro Wrestling, "The Rock" was her favorite wrestler, she also enjoyed going to the movies and traveling the backroads of Randolph County. Linda found joy in the simple things in life and had an unwavering devotion to her family. Before becoming disabled, she worked at several places through the years, her favorite job was working at Long John Silvers of Elkins, where she greeted each customer with a warm smile and a kind word. Her dedication to her work was evident, and she was respected by colleagues and patrons alike.
To honor Linda's life and bid her a fond farewell, a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at 7 p.m. from the Kittle Family Funeral Home, 265 Beech Ave., Philippi WV.
Pastor Bryan Headley will be the celebrant.
Prior to the service, family and friends may gather from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m, where friends and acquaintances can pay their respects.
Per Linda's wishes, her remains will be cremated.
