Mary C. ‘Cathy’ Dixon

Mary C. "Cathy" Dixon, 61, a resident of Belington, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at her home, with her family by her side and under the care of Mountain Hospice.

She was born March 6, 1962, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Basil W. and Anna Ressler Smith.

On Oct. 7, 1995, at Elkins, she was married to David A. Dixon Sr., who survives.

Also surviving is a stepson, David A. Dixon Jr. and wife, Erica, of Richmond, Virginia; stepdaughter, Katina M. Elbon and husband, Rob, of Elkins; six brothers, Charles Smith and wife, Jean, and Bradley Smith and wife, Dotty, of Norton, John Smith and wife, Eula, and David Smith and wife, Chris, of Elkins, Rusty Smith of Grundy, Virginia, and Daniel Smith of Glady, West Virginia; two sisters, Lucy Guire and husband, John, of Mabie, and Linda Richards and husband, Phillip, of Buckhannon, West Virginia; nine grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were four sisters, Judy, Lola and Sandy Bell and Darlene Smith; and two brothers, William and Ronald "Sonny" Smith.

Cathy had worked as a cabinet finisher and had retired from Green Field Cabinetry. Cathy loved her family, her dogs, the outdoors, camping and gathering ginseng.

Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Dave Collins officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bell Cemetery at Kelly Mountain.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Barbour County Animal Shelter, 23 Valley Bend Road, Belington, WV 26250 in memory of Cathy. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mary C. "Cathy" Dixon.
