Regina M. ‘Jeanie’ Simpson

On Monday evening, Dec. 4, 2023, the Lord Jesus called Regina M. "Jeanie" Simpson from her long-time earthly home in Elkins to her heavenly home.

She was born Nov. 18, 1939, at Elkins, a daughter of Albert Wayne and Gladys Mae Hornick Schoonover.

On April 15, 1957, in Elkins, she was married to Thomas Lee Simpson, who survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; in-laws, Lloyd H. and Helen V. Cutright Simpson; a special aunt-in-law, Elsie D. Fink; one son, Jeffrey Brook Simpson; brother-in-law, Thomas R. "Tom" Sharps; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth A. "Libby" Schoonover and JoEllen Simpson Watring.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tom; daughter, Naida Vonne Simpson; and grandson, Jerad Brook Simpson, all of Elkins; and granddaughter, Dr. Tonya Lea Simpson Spangler, DDS, of Raleigh, North Carolina; brother, Stewart Wayne Schoonover of Elkins; sister, Shelby Jean Schoonover Sharps of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law, Kenneth L. "Ken" Simpson and wife, Suzanne, of Roanoke, Virginia, and John Watring of Northridge, California; four nephews, Joe (Vickie) Schoonover, Randy (Amber) Sharps, Shawn (Laura) Simpson Mark (Jenny) Watring; two nieces, Joni Watring (Steve) Westerhouse and Shannon Simpson; and several cousins and friends that were like family.

Also surviving are her fur babies, Fritzy Marie and Maggie Sue; grand kitty, Gabby Grace; great- grand-kitty, Midnight; and great-grand-pup, Gilly.

Jeanie supported several ministries and charities.

The family would like to thank the caring support of Mountain Hospice during her last few weeks of life.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 9, from the funeral home chapel, with Judy Schoonover Ritchie officiating.

Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to a ministry or charity of choice in memory of Jeanie.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Regina M. "Jeanie" Schoonover Simpson.
