Robert Samuel ‘Sam’ Leary

Sam was born Friday, Feb. 20, 1987, in Elkins, a son of Michelle Dawn Barrick Leary and Jerry Lee Leary of Mill Creek.

Also left to cherish Sam’s memory are his three sons, Kaydon, Konnor and Karson Leary; and his daughter. Stella Leary. all of Elkins; and his companion, Theresa George, of East Dailey. Sam was also a dad to Tessa and Tripp George of East Dailey.

Others who survive Sam include two brothers, Jerry (Brittany) Barrick and Joshua Leary; and a sister Courtney (Devin) Samples all of Mill Creek; his paternal grandmother, Sylvia Harris of Ohio; five uncles, Chris (Colleen) Barrick, David Leary, John Leary, Bobby Leary and Wayne Harris; six aunts, Diana (Rich) Norwood, Robin (Mark) Romano, Christina (Dave) Plum, Barbara (Bill) Fusselman, Pam Harris, and Loretta Leary (companion, Matt Mallow); a great uncle, Joseph McGee’ a great aunt, Doroty Sentz; many whom Sam claimed as aunts and uncles, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Sam was a graduate of Tygarts Valley Christian Academy with the class of 2006. He was formerly employed at Huttonsville Correctional Center, Tygart Valley Regional Jail, Energy Group, TFS Recovery, and at his time of death as a security officer at Davis Medical Center.

Sam never knew a stranger and was a friend to everyone that he met. His gentle kindness and soothing voice captured the hearts of all who knew him. Sam was athletic and played sports throughout his school years and continued into adulthood. Softball was his passion and his team was his second family. His happiest moments were traveling to play ball with everyone. Sam never lost his childhood spirit and joy, he loved having fun and living life to its fullest.

A visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Brick Church Cemetery.

The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Robert Samuel “Sam” Leary.
