Susan ‘Faye’ Shiflett Wamsley

Susan "Faye" Shiflett Wamsley, 85, a former resident of Valley Bend, more recently a resident of Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center passed from this life Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, at the nursing home.

Faye was born Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1938, in Everettville, a daughter of the late Herman H. Shiflett and Margaret Eleanor Fridley Shiflett. On June 6, 1954, in Huttonsville, she was married to Donald "Don" Keith Wamsley. who preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 2020.

Also left to cherish Faye's memory are two daughters, Donna R. Morgan and husband, Vernon. of Helvetia, and Denise L. Daniels and husband, Richard, of Blue Rock; three grandchildren, Shannon Allyn Toth and husband, Jason, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Shauna Faye Grantham and husband. John, of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Leeann M. White of Morgantown; four great-grandchildren, Scott Toth, Brett Toth, Reed Grantham and Bryn Grantham; one sister, Maxine Pingley and husband. Charles, Waynesboro, Virginia, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Faye in death besides her parents and husband are six siblings, Juanita Armstrong, Delores Williams, Eloise Armstrong, James Shiflett, Chris Shiflett and Ricky Shiflett.

Faye attended the schools of Monongalia County and Randolph County and later obtained her GED.

She had worked with Family Health Services of Memorial General Hospital and Youth Health Services of Elkins, retiring in 2000. While working with Youth Health Service, she was selected as "West Virginia Driver of the Year" in 1990 and " National Driver of the Year" in 1991 by Community Transportation Association of America. In addition to serving families and children who needed transportation for medical treatment, she was also a practicing seamstress, handweaver, and needle artist.

A private graveside service was held at Brick Church Cemetery on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023.

The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Susan "Faye" Wamsley.
