Mrs. Velma Irene (Anderson) Poling, 79, a residence of the Teter Creek Lake Community, and more recently of the Autumn Lake Healthcare Facility in Crystal Springs, departed this life Friday afternoon, Dec. 15, 2023, in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.
Velma was born on June 30, 1944, in Bloomer, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Clarence Orvil and Alice June (Jensen) Anderson.
On Dec. 3, 1966 she was united in marriage to James Ralph Poling Sr., who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1991.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, James Poling Jr. of Teter Creek Lake Community and Jared Poling and wife, Robin, also of the Teter Creek Lake Community; and one daughter, Sissy Collins and husband, Steve, of Belington. Also surviving are two brothers, Virgil Anderson of Illinois and Vernon Anderson and wife, Sue, of Montana; and one sister, Violet Anderson of New Hampshire.
Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Brandon Poling and wife, Barb, Beth Poling and fiance, Oryan Lopez, Logan Collins and wife, Abby, and Shelby Collins; three great-grandchildren, Bryson and Paisley Poling and Kolt Collins. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Valerie Lindelien.
Velma attended the schools of Wisconsin and was a graduate of the Chetek High School in Chetek, Wisconsin. She was a member of the Central Chapel Church and was a homemaker. She loved to read and visit her grandchildren, she also loved feeding the birds, going for rides, and spending time in her flower garden. Velma will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends and family will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. Following the visitation, per Velma's request cremation will be honored and the interment of her cremains will be in the Central Chapel Cemetery at a later date.
There will also be a celebration of life conducted in the spring at the Central Chapel Church in honor of Velma.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Central Chapel Church 8312 Morgantown Pike Montrose, WV 26283.
