Wilda Ruth (Jones) Burner, age 91, a resident of Nella's Nursing Home and a former resident of Philippi, passed away Friday Dec. 15, 2023. in Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Wilda was born Feb. 11, 1932, in Philippi, a daughter of the late Willie E. and Dora (Wagner) Jones. Wilda was united in marriage on March 1, 1951, to Donald A. Burner, who preceded her in death on March 8, 1997.
Wilda attended the Union Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, reading and studying her bible. In earlier years Wilda babysat several children.
Surviving are children, Erik Burner and wife, Sheryl, of Romney, Kevin Burner Sr. and wife, Ronda, of Philippi and Dennis Burner and wife, Margie, of Philippi; step-son Jim Borsig and wife Kate of Southport, Maine; grandchildren Erika Cornwell, Amanda Wolf and husband, Mark, Kevin Burner Jr. and wife, Sara, Shawn Burner and Jayden Burner; step-grandchildren Aaron Robinson and wife, Kirsten, and Alisha Poling and husband, Gunnar; great-grandchildren, Madison Blake, Landen Burner, Bella Wolf, Maddex Burner and Cooper Wolf; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wilda was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Dora Jones; husband, Donald Burner; brothers Harold Jones, Fred Jones and wife, Dorothy, and Jack Jones and wife, Mary Alice; sisters, Imogene Burner and husband, Brooks Sr., and Janet Cooper and husband, Don.
A celebration of Wilda's Life will be held later in February of 2024.
