Deborah "Debbie" Lynn Chilgreen Van Brunt, 71, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023.
Debbie was born Tuesday, Jan. 15, 1952, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Minnie Lee Boggs Chilgreen and Gene Chilgreen.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Jen Van Brunt and husband, Atlas, of Arizona; three grandchildren, Porter, Ephriam and Ziva; and her dog, Megan.
Debbie was a graduate of Elkins High School and then obtained a bachelor's degree from Davis & Elkins College. She was an excellent educator with 36 years of teaching the languages of French and Spanish. Debbie was a lifelong learner, she made it a point to learn something new every day and would encourage others to do so as well. She loved the outdoors and had a passion for astronomy.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Hill Top Cemetery on Kings Run Road in Elkins.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Debbie's name to the Randolph County Humane Society 195 Weese Street Elkins WV 26241.
The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Deborah Lynn Chilgreen Van Brunt.
