Edna May Webb

Edna May Webb, 98, of Marlinton, West Virgnia, passed from this life peacefully on Jan. 18, 2024 at Pocahontas Continuous Care in Marlinton.

Born on Feb. 11, 1925, near Marlinton, she was the daughter of the late Milburn and Pearl Beverage Sharp Burks. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Harold L. Cochran; husbands, C.C. Kelly, James Allen Webb and Paul Graham; two sons, George Hunter Cochran and Harold Lee Cochran Jr.; three brothers, Carl, Claude and Johnny Sharp; five sisters, Margret Chanell, Jennie Cutlip, Anna Lee Hannah, Dolly McComb and Eula Moore.

Surviving are two brothers, Ralph Sharp of Dunmore and Ray Sharp (Linda) of Marlinton; two sisters, Eva Jane Madron of Dunmore and Nancy Hager of Marlinton; three grandchildren, Gregory H. Cochran (Brenda), Lelitia M. Cochran and Misty L. Cochran; great-grandchildren, Kellyn Cassell (Katie), Tausha Grim (Joshua), Courtney McClung (Jared), Makinsey Poeppel (Greg), and Ty Corchran; 10 great-great-grandchildren, McKenna, Chloe, Ellie, Kai, Kenidy, Brailey, Hunter, Maggie, Leo and Thea; several loving nieces, nephews and long-time friends.

Edna operated and owned the Alpine Hotel and Kelley's Restaurant in Marlinton and then the El Poca Motel in Marlinton until 1978, when she sold the business and retired. She loved her flowers and always put out a large garden of vegetables, which she liked to share. She was a member of the Marlinton Presbyterian Church, Red Hats and VFW Auxiliary.

VanReenen Funeral Home is in charge of services. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 27, from noon to 2 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Sam Felton officiating and burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
