Ernest R. ‘Ernie’ Burky

Ernest R. "Ernie" Burky, 67, a resident of Dry Fork, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, in the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He was born Aug. 3, 1956, at Buckhanon, West Virginia, a son of the late Herbert Erwin Burky and the late Hazel Booth Burky.

On June 4, 1977, at Dry Fork, he was married to Joyce Ann Bonner, who survives at Dry Fork.

Also surviving is one son, Christopher Ernest Burky, Morgantown, West Virginia; two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Burky, Dry Fork, and Melissa Rae Burky Albaugh of Fairmont, West Virginia

Two brothers, Alvin J. Burky, Pickens, West Virginia, and Herman J. Burky of Elkins; two sisters, Linda Burky Smith, Fountain, Colorado, and Evelyn Burky Howell, Beverly, West Virginia; and two grandchildren also survive.

Ernie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and was employed as a Civil Engineer for Vaughn, Coast and Vaughn Engineering Company and attended Roney's Point United Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, American Water Works Association, the WV WEA and the Water Environment Federation.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

On Saturday, Jan. 6, Ernie will be moved to the Dry Fork Assembly of God Church, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Pastor Robert Yothers Jr. will officiate and interment will follow in the Mick Cemetery at Dry Fork.

Memorial contributions may be made to WVU Medicine Children's Hospital, 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV 26506 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Ernie.
