Mrs. Karen Sue (Coberly) Heatherly, 81, a resident of Belington, departed this life Monday night Jan. 01, 2024, in the WV Caring Hospice facility at Elkins. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born June 21, 1942, at Belington, a daughter of the late Harvey Ray "Hob" and Luella Belle (Kittle) Coberly.
On Oct. 16, 1964, she was united in marriage to Darl Henry "Whitey" Heatherly, who survives at their home.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, Evan Heatherly and wife, Kimberly, of Belington; three granddaughters, Taylor Wagner and fiance, Garrett Morgan, Eden Heatherly and Alexis Furby and husband, Trace; one brother, Garry and wife, Joretta, of Belington. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Erin Kay Heatherly; and an infant sister, Sharon Kay Coberly.
Karen attended the schools of Barbour County and was a graduate of the Belington High School with the class of 1960 and was a member of the Philippi Southern Baptist Church.
She was formerly employed by the Barbour County Board of Education and the Barbour County Circuit Clerk and was lastly employed at the Clarksburg F.BI. Center from which she retired.
Karen enjoyed family research and genealogy, which was very important to her. She loved to sew, crochet, restore old furniture and spend time in her garden, and was an avid reader. Karen also took the best care of her daughter, Erin until her passing in 2019. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Per Karen's request cremation will be honored. Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. at which time a memorial service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Jim Strawderman officiating.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Philippi Southern Baptist Church P.O. Box 414 Philippi, WV 26416.
