Kathryn "Katie" Joette Blievernicht Channell, 67, a resident of Beverly, passed from this life Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at home surrounded by family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
Katie was born June 5, 1956, in Elkins, a daughter of late Yvonne Valentine.
On Oct. 7, 1970, she married Ralph Channell, who survives at home.
Also left to cherish her memory are her stepfather, William Blievernicht of Clarksville, Tennessee; sisters, Candy Lanham and companion, Steve Phillips, of Belington, and Susan Serrett/Larry Serrett of Mill Creek; kids, Rodney Channell and companion, Natalie Mills, of Pennsylvania and Brad Channell/Jodie Channell of Coalton, West Virginia; and daughter-in-law, Amanda Channell of Manteo, North Carolina.
Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren, Destiny Watson and husband, Kelly Watson, of Santa Teresa, New Mexico, Shauntay Channell and companion, Phillip Graham, of Beverly, Nathaniel Wilmore and companion, Chantel Smith, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Autumn Channell of South Carolina, Devon Channell of Beverly, Liam Channell of Coalton, Caylee Carver of Coalton, Levi Vandevender of Coalton, Damon Cogar of Florida, Leeya Channell of Pennsylvania, Ben Hosterman of Pennsylvania, Caitlin Channell of Lawton, Oklahoma, Ryan Channell of Lawton, Oklahoma, Arian Channell of Ohio, Ashley Edmond of North Carolina, Jacob Edmond of North Carolina, Skylar Edmond of North Carolina and Travis Lester of Parkersburg.
She is also survived by 12 great-grandkids and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death besides her Mother were son, Ernie Channell; granddaughter, Kayla Lester; long-time best friend, Cindy Foster; and stepfather, Russell "Speed" Valentine.
Katie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved decorating for Christmas, doing arts and crafts, and going to her kids' school functions and ball games. She loved spending time with her late best friend Cindy Foster of over 30 years, going out to eat at Chinese restaurants, going to yard sales and spending the summer at Virginia Beach with her son and his family.
Katie will be most remembered for her big heart. Not only did she and Ralph raise their own three sons, but they also raised three of their grandkids for many years. She was so loved and will be missed by so many.
Her wishes to be cremated have been honored.
