Marie Faye Teter Schoonover, 89, a resident of Elkins, passed away early Friday morning, Dec. 29, 2023 at Mountain Memories Assisted Living and Retirement Center in Elkins.
She was born March 9, 1934, at Gladwyn, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Howard Charles Teter and the late Orpha Beatrice Smith Teter.
On Sept. 15, 1952, she married Wayne Elmer Schoonover, who preceded her in death Aug. 27, 2009.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Schoonover and wife, Jean of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Brian Schoonover and wife, Jeanette, of Philippi, West Virginia. Two daughters, Karen Nicholson of Millsboro, Delaware, and Tammy Seibert and husband, Richard, of Philippi, West Virginia. Eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding her in death was one son, Kenneth Lee Schoonover on April 18, 1995.
Marie was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by siblings, Savannah Rhodes, Charles Teter, Lucille Fortney, E. Gerald Teter and Ruth Harmon.
Marie was a homemaker and a born-again Christian.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, from the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Robert Yothers Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road, Elkins.
