WAMSLEY

Martha Lee Wamsley, 94, of Valley Head, West Virginia, went to Heaven on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center.

She was born March 19, 1929, to Denver and Margaret Louise Morgart Cutright in Parcoal, West Virginia, in Webster County.

On Dec. 29, 1950, she married Ray Luther Wamsley, who preceded her in death Aug. 28, 2000.

She is survived by sons, Terry R. Wamsley of Mill Creek and Jerry Wamsley and wife, Debbie, of Valley Head; daughters, Pamela Daniels and husband, Joe, of Valley Head, and Robin Wamsley and companion, Kevin Sacks of Dailey.

Eleven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.

She was the oldest daughter of a large family and helped to raise her siblings.

Lloyd Cutright of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Linda Sue King of Lafayette, Indiana, are the only surviving siblings.

Also preceding her in death were brothers, John E. Cutright, Larry Cutright, Robert E. Cutright, David Cutright and Danny Denver Cutright; sisters, Judy Ann Marsh, Mary Jo Hevener and Genevive Hamrick; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Jane Wamsley.

Martha was a spirit filled, born again Christian and attended the Calvary Assembly of God in Valley Head most of her life. She was a homemaker who cared for several of her grandchildren and great- grandchildren while their parents worked.

She will most be remembered for being a prayer warrior, a counselor and a generous person who only saw the best in others.

"To die is gain" was one of her favorite scriptures, Philippians 1:19-26. At the age of 80 she stated, "I'm 80 years old and I'll say what I want!" A statement that she lived by.

The family especially appreciates the CNA's, nurses, Rev. Robert Yothers Jr. all the staff of Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center, and Mountain Hospice for their loving care of Martha. She had favorites and you know who you are.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at the Mingo Cemetery at Mingo, West Virginia.

Pastor David Powell will officiate and interment will follow.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Martha Lee Wamsley.
