Mary Lou Murphy

Mary Lou Murphy, 89, a resident of Philippi, passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, in Mansfield Place of Broaddus Hospital.

Mary was born June 3, 1934, in Kanawha County, a daughter of the late Thomas O. and Beulah Blanche (Purkey) Perry.

Mary was united in marriage on March 15, 1952, to Darl Edward Murphy, who preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1996.

Surviving are Greg Murphy and wife, Karen, of Philippi, Cassandra Paumier and husband, Marc, of Canton, Ohio; grandchildren, Amber Funk, David Murphy, Mitch Dulaney and Carlee Webley; great- grandchildren, Wyatt Funk, Kinslee Tenney and Dulaney Webley; sister, Charlene Hamrick of Fairmont; brother, Thomas A. Perry and wife, Cathy, of Newport News, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Beulah Perry; husband, Darl Murphy; sister, Juanita Starkey; and brother, James Perry.

Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the Barbour County CEOS, past member of the American Legion Post 44 Ladies Auxiliary. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to everyone.

A graveside service will he held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m., from the WV National Cemetery, with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating.
