Noble L. Parfitt, born on May 8, 1935, in Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on Jan. 6, 2024.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather.
Noble's life was a journey that spanned various cities and states, leaving a legacy of kindness, service and joy to the communities he called home.
Noble resided in Luxor, Pennsylvania, Norfolk and Manassas, Virginia, Salisbury, Maryland, and Parkersburg, Moundsville and Elkins, West Virginia.
On Aug. 8, 1955, he married the love of his life, Janice Wyant Parfitt, and together they celebrated an incredible 68 years of marriage.
Noble is survived by his beloved wife Janice; daughter, Linda Koch (Joe); sons, David (Vickie) and Christopher Parfitt (Pam); and a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
He was a proud grandfather to William (Jessica) and Rick (Crystal) Koch, Sarah (Stephen) Chapman, William (Caroline) Parfitt, Elizabeth (Cris)Tracey, Joshua (Luyen) Parfitt, Stephanie (Stephane) Rose Picard, and Christopher Parfitt. Noble was also a great-grandfather to Gage and Kinley Koch, Scarlett and Sophia Chapman, Max and Kaleb Koch, and Madelaine and Max Probst. Noble is survived by his sister, Margaret Oplinger and her husband, Gene, from Jeanette, Pennsylvania.
A man of faith, Noble was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church, where he found joy and community. His dedication extended beyond his spiritual life, as he served as a U.S. Navy Electrician Mate-First Class aboard the U.S.S. New Jersey and the U.S.S Canberra. He was honorably discharged on March 16, 1962, proudly contributing to the defense of our nation during his military service.
Professionally, Noble worked for Southern States Cooperative for 37 years, where he enjoyed leading his team and serving his customers.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Noble found joy in a variety of hobbies. He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. He was a huge Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed baseball, hockey, and especially his Pittsburgh Steelers! He loved the ocean, and his favorite beaches were on the Outer Banks of North Carolina; his favorite pastime, however, was puttering around in the backyard, gardens and shed, which was his happy place of contentment.
Noble L. Parfitt will be remembered not only for his service to his country and community but also for the warmth, kindness, and love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. He was first, foremost, and always a true gentleman.
Noble's request for cremation was honored. The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Noble L. Parfitt.
