Susan Louise (Cross) Evans

Mrs. Susan Louise (Cross) Evans, 63, a resident of Belington, departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 10, 202,4 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Death was following a brief illness.

She was born June 13, 1960 at Buckhannon, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Bernard and Dorothy Louise England Cross.

On Feb. 27, 1982, at Belington, she was united in marriage to William Richard “Bill” Evans, who survives at their home in Belington.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Amy Evans of Belington, Becky Langford and husband, Todd, of Mt. Clare, West Virginia, and Hannah Evans of Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.

Additional survivors include one bonus son, Andrew C. “Ace” Elmore of Carrick, Pennsylvania; four sisters, Nancy Holbert of Mt. Liberty Community, Patricia Diane Everson and husband, Paul, of Belington, Judy George and husband, Joe, of Elkins, and Trudy Lynn Reid and husband, David, of Wenham, Massachusetts; and three brothers, Stephen Bruce Cross and wife, Sandi, of Texas, Randy Lee Cross and wife, Jamie, of Kerens, West Virginia, and Bernard Douglas Cross and companion, Vicki Connell, of Junior.

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Susan attended the schools of Barbour County and was a graduate of the Philip Barbour High School with the class of 1979. She was a member of the Faithway Baptist Church where she was a choir member and was a devout Christian. She previously worked as an in-home care provider. Susan enjoyed cake decorating, taking side-by-side “buggy rides,” crocheting and taking care of her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, at which time final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor David Canny officiating.

Interment will then follow in the Faithway Baptist Church Cemetery near Belington.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Faithway Baptist Church PO Box 26 Philippi, WV 26416.
