Carol Joan Foster Thompson, 91, a resident of Parsons, West Virginia. departed this life Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Mountain Hospice. She had been in declining health.
She was born Tuesday, Jan. 10, 1933, at Rosendorf, West Virginia, a daughter of the late John Daniel Foster.
She was married to Henry Olin Thompson Sr., who preceded her in death December 1975.
Surviving are three sons, Henry Olin Thompson Jr. and wife, Roberta, Charles Daniel "Joe" Thompson and wife, Marilyn, and Foster Allen Thompson, all of Parsons; five grandchildren, Amber, Carol, Guy Jr., Henry and Sabrina; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are one daughter, Patricia Ann Bright; two brothers, John and Benjamin Foster; one sister, Eleanor Huffman; and one grandson, William Simpson.
She attended Parsons High School. She was a world traveler with her husband, as a military wife, with the Air Force. After the age of 60, she obtained her GED, completed nursing school and worked as a registered nurse at Davis Memorial Hospital and retired from Cortland Acres.
Mrs. Thompson's request for cremation will be honored.
A private graveside service will take place at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, West Virginia.
The Rev. James Snyder will officiate and inurnment will follow.
