Clifford Ray Wilmoth

Clifford Ray Wilmoth, 88, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life Wednesday morning, Jan. 31, 2024, at Valentine’s Personal Care Home at Elkins, West Virginia, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of WV Caring.

He was born Monday, Jan. 13, 1936, at Montrose, West Virginia, a son of the late Floyd J. Wilmoth and Marie Godwin Wilmoth.

On Dec. 27, 1958, at Elkins, West Virginia, he was married to the former Mabel L. Hensil, who survives. They had celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Also surviving are two sons, Clifford Mark Wilmoth and wife, Cindy, of Marietta, Ohio, and Judge David H. Wilmoth and wife, Kris, of Elkins; three daughters, Elizabeth Rae “Beth” Cooper and husband, Ken, of Elkins, Amy Renee Cunningham and husband, Rick, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Sarah Ann Sikarskie and husband, Brian, of King, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Richard Wilmoth of Marietta, Ohio, Cassidy Cunningham of Morehead City, North Carolina, Bryn Cooper and wife, Jessica, of Huttonsville, Kyle Cunningham and wife, Gabby, of Pensacola, Florida, Keaton Cooper of New York, New York, Lauren Wilmoth of Nashville, Tennessee, Kaleb Cunningham of Kings Point, Newe York, and Luke Sikarskie of King, North Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Anderson and Arianna Cooper; and several nieces and nephews, including his brother Don’s children, Kelli Bell, Jennifer Blakeley and Eric Wilmoth.

Preceding him in death is one brother, Donald Wilmoth.

Clifford was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1954, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Fairmont State College and his Master’s Degree from Marshall University. He worked as an Educator and Administrator for Randolph County Schools for forty years and was a member of the Elkins Army National Guard for twenty-three years. Clifford was a member of the First Church of Christ where he was an Elder for fifty years. He enjoyed woodworking, reading and history.

Clifford was a loving husband, father and Grampy who will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends at the First Church of Christ at Elkins, West Virginia, on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Final Rites will be conducted from the Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. Mark Wilmoth and Preaching Minister Jason Brandon will officiate.

Interment will follow at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale, West Virginia, where full military honors will be accorded by members of the WV National Guard Honor Guard Program, the H.W. Daniel’s Post 29, American Legion and the Tygarts Valley Post 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
