Dixie Lee Saurborn Stover

STOVER

Dixie Lee Stover, 82, of Alexandria, Virginia, was born to the late Donald Nathaniel Saurborn and Genevieve Faye Crawford, on April 20, 1941, in Mill Creek, West Virginia.

Dixie passed away peacefully on Feb. 19, 2024.

Dixie was a 1959 graduate of Tygarts Valley High School in Mill Creek, West Virginia, and a 1960 graduate of Morgantown Business College in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Dixie was married to Joseph A. Stover from 1962-1980.

Dixie started her career in 1960 at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C., and retired from the U.S. Army in 1998 after 20 years of service.

She is survived by her cousins, extended family and close friends. Dixie loved her many cats throughout the years and avidly enjoyed reading. She was a caring and thoughtful friend, with an ear for listening and learning about others and their experiences. Dixie's smile lit up the room, she lived simply and was loved beyond measure.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home, 120 1st Street, Elkins, West Virginia, on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m., at which time Ms. Stover will be moved to the Mill Creek Cemetery at Mill Creek, West Virginia, where a graveside service will be conducted.

The Rev. Mr. Raymond G. Godwin will officiate and interment will follow.

The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Dixie Lee Saurborn Stover.
