Edna June Chewning Skinner, 83, a resident of Mabie, West Virginia, departed this life Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024m at 10 a.m. at her son's resident in Buckhannon, West Virginia.
She was born May 28, 1940, in Fayette County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Orville Blaine and Millie Marie Redden Chewning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elsworth Skinner Sr.; two sisters, Louise Chewning and Thelma Chewning Zirkle; daughter-in-law, Sherida Skinner; grandson, Daniel Ray Arbogast; and great-grandson, Damien Ryan Carpenter.
On April 12, 1959, Edna married Charles Elsworth Skinner, having celebrated 61 years of marriage. Also surviving is one sister, Gladys Chewning Gould of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Arnold Lee Chewning and wife, Margie, of Buckhannon, West Virginia and Blaine Chester Chewning of Buckhanon. Her six children, Charles Skinner Jr and Janice of Thomas, West Virginia, Tim of Buckhannon, West Virginia, Delbert "Shotgun" Skinner and wife, Kenya, of San Antonio, Texas, Jerry Skinner and wife, Jody, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, Richard "Ricky" Skinner and fiance, Michelle Clark, of Washington, Pennsylvania. Several grandchildren, Kelly Skinner and fiance, Rodney Gooden, C.J., Amanda, Jimmie Lee, Cynthia, Jonathan, Samantha, Travis, Corri, Tony, Jordan Tyler, Allison, Eric, Megan, Alyssa, Cheyanna, Britteny, Caleb, Cameron, Hannah, Shannon, Emily, Timmy and Joshua; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Edna was a Baptist by faith. She was a loving wife and mother who loved all of her family. She also loved to sing and her flowers.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wease Day officiating. Interment will follow in the Lower Rowan Cemetery near Mabie.
