George Curtis Wilcher, 72, a resident of the Elk Community, Hendricks, West Virginia, departed this life Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at the WVU Medicine Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, West Virginia, under the care of WVU Hospice.
He was born Monday, Dec. 31, 1951, at Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late William Wilcher and Cecilia Joan Heidel Wilcher.
On Jan. 14, 1977, he was married to the former Anna Lynn Carr, who survives at Hendricks, West Virginia.
Also surviving is one son, Stephen William Wilcher of Hendricks; one daughter, Lisa Dawn Dearien and Sammy Arbogast of Beverly, West Virginia; one sister, Billyann Wilcher of Dundalk, Maryland; five grandchildren, Patrick Dellinger, Matthew Dellinger, Kerri Vance, and twins, Tyler and Logan Wilcher.
Preceding him in death is one sister, Joanie Tormollan; one brother, Randy Wilcher.
He was a graduate of Sparrows Point High School in Sparrows Point, Maryland, with the class of 1972. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, during the Vietnam War. He was an auto body mechanic in Dundalk, Maryland, as well as carpentry work. His hobbies included hunting, building train gardens, and making arrangements in fish tanks. He loved to go to flee markets.
He loved his grandchildren very much.
The family will receive friends at the Brights Chapel Church at Dry Fork, West Virginia. on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the church on Thursday at 1 p.m. Pastor Lonnie Daniels will officiate and interment will follow at the Brights Chapel Cemetery at Dry Fork, West Virginia.
