Thalia Jane McVicker, 79, passed away Friday, Feb. 23 2024, at the Village of St. Edward in Green.
Thalia was born 23 July 1944, to James R. and Ruth Madeline (Rexrode) Barkley in Elkins, West Virginia. She graduated from Elkins High School (class of '62) from Salem College with a bachelor's degree then obtaining a master's degree in education from West Virginia University. She taught at Green Local Schools for 37 years. She was a member of Amherst Community Church.
Thalia is survived by her husband of 57 years, Elden; sons, Elden R. McVicker Jr. (JR) spouse, Patricia, and their son, Thomas; James W. McVicker (J.W.) spouse, Colleen, and their daughters, Brianna, Micheala, Landry and Aislynn. Along with her brother, James "Chuck" Barkley spouse, Shelia.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Massillon and Steese, entrance off Steese) where funeral services will immediately follow.
Interment will be Friday, March 1 2024, at 1 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery, Elkins, West Virginia, with a small gathering afterwards for family and friends from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hampton Inn in Elkins.
Honorary donations can be made to a charity of your choosing or a church.
