David Allen Wolford Sr., 80, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Thursday, March 7, 2024, at WV Caring Hospice Inpatient Center in Elkins. He had been in declining health for several years.
David was born Monday, Feb. 14, 1944, in Harman, a son of the late Austin Barton Wolford and Vallie Viola Crossland Wolford Phillips.
David is survived by one son, Richard Wayne Wolford and wife, Kellie, of Clover Run; four grandchildren, Kristin Tacy, David Spessert Jr., Katie Spessert and Devin Spessert; eight great grandchildren, one brother, Dwight Eddie Wolford of Mt. Zion; one sister, Roberta "Bobbie" O'Quinn of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding David in death besides his parents was one son, David Allen Wolford Jr.; four brothers, Barton Wolford Jr., Coy Wolford, Dennis Wolford and John Phillips; and one sister, Doris Miller.
David attended the schools of Tucker County and had worked as a laborer for Hinchcliff Lumber. He had enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and tinkering.
A graveside gathering will be held at Harsh Family Cemetery in the Clover Run Community on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 1 p.m. and interment will follow.
