Evelyn Regina ‘Jean’ Wamsley

Evelyn Regina "Jean" Wamsley, 96, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024 in the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center in Elkins.

She was born March 9, 1927, at Adrian, West Virginia, a daughter of the late George Dewey Wamsley and the late Lauthberry Channel Wamsley.

Jean was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School in the class of 1946. She graduated from the Davis & Elkins College School of Nursing and spent many years as a Registered Nurse prior to her retirement. She was a longtime resident of the Elkins Manor prior to moving to ERCC in 2013. She was a member of the Randolph County Senior Center and enjoyed many trips and activities with her friends there.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Carl, Robert and James; and sisters, Eleanor Pingley, Ethel Collins and Josephine Collins.

Surviving is one sister, Barbara Fidler of Vinton, Virginia; and two sisters-in-law, Naomi Wamsley of Elkins and Muggins Wamsley of Waynesboro, Virginia.

In addition, she will be missed by several loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the employees of ERCC for their loving care of our sister and aunt during the past few years. They were assisted by Mountain Hospice in her last days.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville.

Rev. Andrew Boley will officiate and interment will follow.

Contributions may be made to the Brick Church Cemetery Foundation, Inc., PO Box 202, Mill Creek, WV 26280 for cemetery maintenance or construction of the new Meditation Chapel in memory of Jean.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Evelyn Regina "Jean" Wamsley.
