Johnny Dale ‘J.D.’ Sipe

SIPE

Mr. Johnny Dale "J.D." Sipe, 70, a resident of Belington, West Virginia, departed this life Sunday morning, March 17, 2024, at his home. He had been declining in health but death was unexpected.

He was born May 23, 1953, at Elkins, West Virginia, a son of the late John William and Rosalee McLean Sipe.

He is survived by former companion, Linda Marie Hansen of Phillipi; two sons, Elliott J.W. Sipe and wife, Bridgett, of Belington, and Brian D. Sipe of Belington; two brothers, Terry Lee Sipe and friend, Sandy, of Belington, and Gregory Lynn Sipe and wife, Shelia, of Belington; an uncle, Junior McLean of Belington; and aunts, Charlotte Mulson of Belington and Bridget Sipe Ervin of Elkins.

Additional survivors include a nephew, Brandon Sipe; a niece, Tosha Thomas and husband, Richie; and great-nieces and -nephews, Landon Sipe, Nevaeh Sipe, Chase Bennett and Lane Thomas.

Multiple extended family also survive.

In addition, to his parents he was preceded in death by a niece, Tara Brooke Sipe.

J.D. attended the schools of Barbour County and was a high school graduate from the Philip Barbour High School with the class of 1971. J.D. was a man of many trades with work experience in the coal mines, oil fields and water department for the Town of Junior. He enjoyed being in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping with friends. He was an avid WVU Mountaineer fan, he rarely missed watching a football or basketball game. He also enjoyed working on vehicles and building Jeeps. He is loved and will be greatly missed by many.

Per J.D.'s request, cremation will be honored.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at which time a Memorial Service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Bryan Headley officiating.

In leu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Friends of Barbour County P.O. Box 452 Philippi, WV 26416.
