Rev. Barry Robert Moll, 69, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loving family on March 26, 2024, following a brief battle with cancer.
Barry was born on May 16, 1954, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the middle child of the late Karl and Janet Keller Moll.
Barry is survived by Pam Tanner Moll, his wife of 48 years.
He is also survived by his four children, son Brandon (Amy) Moll of Craigsville, West Virginia; daughter, Emily (Tony) Roush of Morgantown, West Virginia, son Jonathan (Celia) Moll of Charleston, West Virginia, and daughter, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Brumfield of Charleston, West Virginia. Also surviving are sister, Sherrill (Phil) Strickland of Clinton, Massachusetts; and brother, Kirk (Mary) Moll of Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Surviving beloved grandchildren include Bree, Ashton, Elise, Eli, Jonathan Jr., Liam, Christian, Cora, Cayden, Rowen and David. Barry is also survived by his Uncle Chuck (Judy) Moll, several special nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members along with countless close friends.
As a young boy, Barry developed a life-long love of baseball. Barry attended and graduated from College High School, a demonstration high school on the campus of Mont Claire State College, in Mont Claire, New Jersey. During his senior year of high school, he dedicated his life to Christ. He came to West Virginia to attend his beloved West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, where he met his loving wife, and he loved Pam and our state so well that he never left. After graduating from Wesleyan, he attained his Masters of Divinity from Emory University Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia. Barry spent the remainder of his life serving faithfully as a pastor in the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Barry retired from pastoral ministry in 2018 and quickly began serving as Chaplain at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, a ministry which he found very fulfilling.
Most recently Barry's dedication to helping others and volunteerism was carried out through his work at the Upshur Parish House in Buckhannon. In addition to this, he has completed mission trip to several countries around the world. Many of them working with Volunteers in Mission. He was instrumental in creating the Celebration of Mission Event many years ago in the WV Annual Conference.
Barry has touched the lives of countless people around the world through his love of Christ. He earnestly believed that you can preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips.
Friends may call at the First United Methodist Church, 315 Kerens Ave, Elkins, WV 26241, on Friday April 5th, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for visiting with family and friends. A memorial service to follow immediately at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Elkins.
Members of Rev. Moll's Covenant Group will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Upshur Parish House, 68 College Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201 or WVU Medicine Hospice, 12 Rousch Drive, Morgantown, WV 26501-3872 in loving memory of Barry.
