It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Robert S. Collett Jr., who departed from this world on March 12, 2024. He was 85 years old.
A pillar of strength and wisdom, Robert was the cornerstone of our family. His unwavering love, guidance, and support shaped the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, he touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and integrity.
Born on Aug. 12, 1938, in Elkins West Virginia, Robert led a life characterized by dedication to his family, faith, and community. He was a beacon of compassion and understanding, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire us all.
Robert was a graduate of West Virginia University obtaining a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering. He obtained certification as a professional civil engineer and worked for Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation for 30 years. Robert was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time fishing, scouting and hunting. He was a master gardener and enjoyed sharing the bounty of his garden with family friends and neighbors.
Robert is survived by Roberta Anne Collett (Wilhelm), his loving wife of 65 years; and his cherished children, Robert S. Collett III (Marti), Kimberli A. Collett, James E. Collett (Donna) and Philip A.H. Collett (Angie).
He will also be deeply missed by his adoring grandchildren, Robynn Tomaselli (Micah), Robert S. Collet IV "Bair" (Miranda), Douglas T. Griffy (Melanie), Katherine R. Saylor, David R. Griffy (Meghan), Bobbie Lynn McLaughlin (Lee), Morgan Tae Collett, Brendan Collett, Caden Collett. Also his loving great-grandchildren, Mia Tomaselli, Amelia and Christopher Griffy, Trevor, Phoenix, and, Lilyana Saylor, Zoe and Kendall McLaughlin and Aiden and Ethan Collett; and a host of extended family members and friends.
In addition to his roles within the family, Robert made significant contributions to Gideon's International and conducted jail ministry visits for 30 years. He also participated in 11 international trips as part of the Nazarene Work and Witness Ministry, he coached many youth sports teams throughout his life, taught Sunday School and served in positions of leadership at the churches he attended.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held at Valley Funeral Service in Edinburg Virginia, on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 1 p.m.
Family and friends are invited to join together to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life. Rev. Charles Jarrett will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in knowing that Robert has found peace and eternal rest. His memory will forever live on in our hearts, and his legacy will continue to guide us through life's journey.
Rest in peace. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
