Virginia Lee "Ginny" Mastrogiuseppe, 94, of Coalton, passed peacefully on the morning of March 8, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends at Davis Medical Center. She had been in declining health.
On June 14, 1929, she was born to the late O.C. and Elta Ware Poe in Elkins.
On May 15, 1951, she was married to the love of her life, Victor A. Mastrogiuseppe Sr., who survives in Coalton at their family home.
She was well known in Coalton and the surrounding communities for her expert canning abilities and the numerous blue ribbons she won. Each year she handmade and delivered her homemade Easter bread to various friends around the community. She enjoyed her flower garden, helping tend to the garden during the summer, and canning away her bountiful harvest. She and her lifelong friend, Ann Blosser, enjoyed many mornings drinking coffee and catching up on the latest gossip. They also enjoyed their walks together and going out to eat when she was able. and going out to eat. She also enjoyed spending time with her daughter-in- law, Phyllis Mastrogiuseppe, having tea and their many trips to town, and to WVU basketball games, she was a huge Mountaineer Sports Fan, Some of her other favorite past times were spent playing cards and arranging her many gnomes in her flower garden as well as cooking and baking many things from her recipes, making tons of candy at Christmas and sending containers to everyone. Her most cherished times were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she was always willing to show her numerous photos of and loved each of them equally. She loved them dearly. She was very proud of all her grandchildren and all their accomplishments. She never met a stranger and welcomed them with open arms into her home. Anyone who came to their home never left on an empty stomach.
She was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Virginia "Gigi" Manchin; five brothers, Ron, Don, Dale, Vernon and Roy; and one sister, Letta.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Victor A. Mastrogiuseppe Sr., they celebrated 73 wonderful years together; daughter, Victoria A. Harman and husband, Jake; son, Victor A. Mastrogiuseppe Jr., and wife, Melinda; grandchildren, John Ross and Lindsay Harman, Crystal" Marcy" Manchin, Kathleen Manchin, Anthony and Kara Manchin, Tara Manchin, Scarlet and Ardy Sayan, Vincent and Chrissy Mastrogiuseppe, Amy Mastrogiuseppe and husband, Walter Sanchez, Hunter and Emma Mastrogiuseppe and Allison and Justin Miller; great-grandchildren, Liam, Aiden and Isla, Corey, Casey, A.J., Laurel, Hazel, Weslyn, Gus and Loudin; best friend, Anna Blosser; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Mastrogiuseppe; caregivers, Victoria and Vanessa; and several nieces and nephews.
She is so loved and will be deeply missed by many. Her memory will always live in our hearts.
Honoring the wishes of our wife/mother/grannie/ nana, no services will be held and cremation was honored.
A private service will be held at a later date for family and friends.
