Christopher "Chris" Ryan "Chumley" Tackett, 33, a resident of Jimtown, passed from this life Saturday, April 6, 2024, at home. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
Chris was born Thursday, April 12, 1990, in Elkins, a son of Rick Tackett and Brenda Lee Lewis Tackett.
Also left to cherish his memory is his wife, Kayla Harlan; five children, Alyssa Tackett, Allison Tackett, Cody Tackett, Summer Westfall and Autumn Westfall; four siblings, Keith Tackett and wife, Bobbie, of Cassity, Sarah Haden and husband, Greg, of Valley Head, Misty Lambert and husband, JD, of Beverly, and Frankie Kitzmiller of Elkins; four nieces, Emily Lindsey, Hailey and Jaylea; three nephews, Shon, Nicholas and Logan; several aunts and uncles; and Jean and Charlie Smith who were his second set of parents.
Preceding Chris in death were his paternal grandparents, Addie and Bob Tackett; his maternal grandparents, Jay and Darlene Lewis; two aunts, Wanda Shreve and Karen Watson; two uncles, Gregory Lewis and Johnny Tackett; a cousin, Nathan Tackett; and his father-in-law, Kenny Harlan
Chris attended the schools of Randolph County, and his love for working in the logging industry was realized even more in his work as a heavy equipment operator for Auvil Logging.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the kids.
Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Monday, April 15, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour.
Rev. Randy Long will officiate and Chris' request for cremation will be honored.
At the family's request the casket will remain closed.
The family has requested memorial contributions to be made in Chris' memory to the American Heart Association at heart.org.
