Don Joseph ‘Joe’ Tenney
TENNEY
Don Joseph “Joe” Tenney, 74, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, died Saturday, April 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 24, 1949, in Buckhannon, a son of the late William Randolph and Madeline Hornbeck Tenney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Tenney; sister, Juineta Hoosaflook; sister-in-law, Darlene Tenney and brother-in-law, Bob Hoosaflook.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Queen Tenney of Buckhannon; daughter, Kessa Thorpe and husband, Tim, of Buckhannon; two brothers, Gary Tenney and wife, Lynn, of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Basil Tenney and wife, Robin, of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tenney graduated from United Electronics School in 1970 and was then drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971.
From 1982-2003, Joe was the owner of Office Sales & Service in Buckhannon.
Following that, he worked for Bill Kelley Chevrolet as a salesman and finance manager.
Joe was a quiet family man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking long drives thru West Virginia admiring the scenery — which he then sometimes captured in oil paintings. His favorite pastime was bowling with his friends.
In honoring Joe’s wishes, he will be cremated.
Friends will be received for a memorial gathering Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 10 a.m. to noon at Nay Chapel United Methodist Church in Buckhannon.
A memorial service will be held at noon, from the church, with Rev. Ralph Miller and Rev. Brad Tenney officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Cemetery in Buckhannon.
